WESTERN ADDITION, San Francisco — Raymond Kimbell Playground at Geary Boulevard and Steiner Street remains a neighborhood recreation option for Western Addition families, with athletic fields and an accessible children’s play area.
San Francisco Recreation and Parks lists the park as open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight. The restroom schedule is shorter in fall and winter, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., rather than the later warm-season closing time. The grounds include picnic areas, baseball diamonds, an athletic field and accessible restroom facilities.
The recreation department says the playground was upgraded and reopened in 2015, including improvements to play surfaces and landscaping. That historical renovation date does not mean new 2026 construction is taking place. Certain athletic areas may require bookings or be reserved for organized use.
What residents should know
Visitors should check signs and reservations before arranging games or large gatherings. The city’s facility page includes a channel for reporting damage or maintenance concerns, and parking along busy Geary Boulevard may be limited.
